Ingredients reuben sandwiches
Sauerkraut
2 cup saurkraut
1/2 chopped yellow onion
2 garlic cloves minced
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp Hungarian paprika
corned beef
3 lb corned beef (store bought)
1 water
additional ingredients
1 Rye bread
1 thousand island dressing (room temp)
1 Swiss cheese (shredded or thinly sliced)
how to make reuben sandwiches
Preheat oven to 325. Place corned beef in roasting pan or any deep dish. Cover with water to just cover barely half the meat. Cover with foil and cook for 1 hours
Meanwhile saute onions and garlic in olive oil for about 7 minutes until transclucent. Add drained saurkraut. Add paprika and pepper. Sautee for about 5 min.
Take out meat and let rest for 15 min. Thinly slice meat across the grain.
Assemble sandwich. Toast bread in oven with cheese or toaster oven if you want the cheese melted and bubbly. Thousand island on both pieces of bread. Follow with meat, then saurkraut.
