grilled flat bread

Ingredients grilled flat bread


2 1/4 tsp (one package) dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
2 tsp granulated sugar
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups bread flour

how to make grilled flat bread


Sprinkle yeast over warm water in a med/large mixing bowl


Add oil sugar and yogurt and mix until well combined


Add salt and bread flour then mix until flour is incorporated


Turn dough out, onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic.


May take up to 15 minutes add only enough flour to keep dough from sticking


Place in bowl and cover loosely with plastic wrap allow dough to rise in warm place until doubled (45+ minutes)


On lightly floured surface cut dough into 8 equal portions (we use a scale).


Shape each portion into a ball and let rest for 10 minutes


Using a rolling pin roll each ball into a 4 inch circle. Let them rest for 10 more minutes before rolling them into 6 inch circles.


10 minutes before cooking flat breads heat grill to 500° f


Just before grilling turn down to low heat. Place dough circles directly on grill 2 at a time until flat bread is lightly toasted


Flip and cook other side. Watch them carefully they cook fast!
